I apologize for the vocal track and the overall quality I did it in a hurry before a party tonight and in order to post it the quality had to be substantially reduced.

thats pretty cool man...
it could use a little work, but i've definitely heard a lot worse, heh. nothing to be ashamed of for sure. and if nothing else, it takes ball to post stuff like that - even if its just online. balls > singing
i'd say my favorite singer is probably mike ness - and his voice sounds better than ever on this album, in my opinion...i don't know what it is about his voice, maybe just as he gets older it sounds better to me, but it's really hard to pull off sounding like him, especially the last couple albums. not to mention, how many takes did he have to get it perfect, did they use auto-tune, etc...
so its not that close, but i've heard more than a couple people cover social d songs and sound a lot worse than that. my only suggestion is to maybe try it in a different key to see if it's more comfortable for you. and did you record guitar and vocals at the same time? if you did, i'd go back and do it one at a time if you can.
i know for a fact i can't sing like ness. i'd rather sound like myself anyways, but i have a really nasally, annoying voice. so i just wish my voice sounded cooler. i have tried singing a couple social d songs and its really hard, for me at least. i'm gonna find a link to a cover i recorded a while ago just for fun...and then once i get my studio set up in costa mesa, maybe i'll record angels wings just to fuck around heh.

Rat Fink-
very good job...you have the gift of mimic-ing.
BUT...there are A LOT of Ness-a-likes out there...and I'm just coming from a musicial stand point here, constructive criticism, if you will.
It is NOT hard to sing like Ness...a big suggestion is that you try and find your own voice, especially while recording SD stuff...you have the ability to sing on key...which is awesome.
I think you have the ability to have a great voice if you work at finding YOUR OWN...know what im sayin? thats the hardest thing for people to do...
just trying to be constructive...but good job
